Addressing the local and regional housing crisis requires Washington wood products and manufacturing technologies.
Washington's forest resources are key to delivering high-quality housing, from single detached homes in rural communities to tall mass timber towers in denser cities. Furthermore, advanced manufacturing and prefabrication (including volumetric and flat-pack modular methods of construction) enables wood to become a technology-driven generator of fast-track housing at a rate that could meaningfully address the urgent demand.
The Housing Accelerator explores the opportunities for mass timber to address Washington's housing shortage, and sets a roadmap for delivering on this potential.
