Port Blakely AEC Forest Tour
Led by local foresters, you’ll walk through a working forest to see climate-smart design, local sourcing and long-term sustainability in practice. Along the way, you'll learn about:
- The benefits of growing Douglas-fir on extended rotations for stronger, premium-grade wood.
- The environmental benefits like biodiversity, carbon sequestration and wildlife habitat.
- The economic and environmental advantages of sourcing local timber.
- How regulations, certification and conservation shape forest management.

Climate Smart Wood Group Webinar: Climate Smart Wood procurement guidance — traceability & transparency
As the AEC community cultivates wood supply chain transparency and pushes for traceability of end products to origins, it is imperative that we are aligned on both why it’s important and the mechanics of disclosure. A consistent ask of supply chain partners is important to growing the demand for wood supply chain transparency in sustainable ways that provide value to its many layers. This presentation will focus on key definitions around different levels of disclosure and tools being developed to help project teams integrate traceability and transparency goals into the design and procurement process.

Climate Smart Wood Group Webinar: Climate Smart Wood procurement guidance — procurement options
Procuring climate smart wood can be challenging, and a one-size-fits all solution rarely fulfills project needs. Project teams can utilize multiple credible pathways to meet both project level procurement requirements and carbon goals. This presentation will introduce the three options for climate smart wood procurement developed by the Climate Smart Wood Group, with expert speakers on each: 1) Recycled, reclaimed and re-used wood resulting from salvage, reclamation and re-use; 2) Certified wood products from a credible forest certification system, and 3) Intentional Sourcing of Climate Smart Wood, involving identification of, and sourcing wood from, non-certified forestry operations whose management practices reflect climate-smart criteria, such as increased carbon storage, ecological integrity and social benefit.

International Mass Timber Conference
The International Mass Timber Conference is the largest gathering of mass timber experts in the world, focusing on the entire industry supply chain. This is our 10th annual event in Portland, Oregon, USA.
Explore cross-laminated timber (CLT), nail-laminated timber, glulam, mass plywood panels, dowel-laminated timber, and laminated veneer lumber; and the opportunities and obstacles in global design, construction, development, manufacturing, and more.

Climate Smart Wood Group Webinar: Case studies in transparency/disclosure
This presentation will build on the previous webinar about traceability & transparency by focusing on project case studies and their wood supply chain journeys. Case studies will focus on why their clients went down the transparency route, what levels they achieved, and the key challenges each team faced at different phases of the design process. Lessons learned will be presented with a focus on how sourcing transparency supported claims around ecological benefits, community economic development, and climate change impacts.
